Don't be SQUARE!

AAAAhhhhhhhhh.... simply simple again. It's so easy to match the colors of your cake to your wedding... Ribbon. Check! Frosting. Check! EASY!

Anyway. A super cool way to add a little flair is to use the shawls from your bridesmaids (if you don't need them, of course) and pool it under the cakes to pull it all together!

Wedding cake stats to come soon: Flavors, Number of Servings, etc.

Recipe of the Week!

Hearty, Heart Warming, Comfort Food at it's Finest......
BEEF STEW

In your favorite slow cooker, so as to eliminate the need to slave over a hot stove and to have a meal piping hot and ready for when you come home from work.... This hits the spot.

1 lb Carrots, cubed
1 stalk of Celery, chopped
1 pound Potatoes, cubed
1 medium Onion, chopped
2 pounds of Beef, cubed**
1 pint of Salsa (16oz)
1 pint of Spaghetti Sauce (16oz)
1 cup Water
2 Tablespoons Seasoning Salt
Pepper to Taste

Place items in Slow Cooker, give a stir and then LET IT BE! Every time you open the lid to your slow cooker you lose a large quantity of heat. Be patient. 6-8 hours on HIGH / 8-11 hours on LOW.

Serve with your favorite crusty bread to soak up all the juices.

**The cut of Beef you choose depends on your budget, but anything that can be cubed up will work. Grocery stores sell packages of "Stew Meat" but it is considerably more expensive than picking up your own knife and doing it! Ask your butcher for assistance.

Recipe of the Week!

Suga' Cookies....  MMMMMmmmmmmmmmm, can't you just taste them melting on your tongue?

1 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup Shortening
1/2 Cup Sour Milk
2 1/2 Cups Flour (give or take 3/4 cup more if too sticky to roll out)
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 egg
Pinch of Salt

Mix well in order given.
Roll out dough using ample flour if needed.
Use your favorite cookie cutters, well floured.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are only slightly browned.
Frost with your favorite icing.

Recipe is easily doubled.  Quantity made is unreliable because of the size of cookie cutters used.

Simplicity

This is the year of the elegant cake! Made to match by adding ribbon around the layers. No fuss later on while cutting either, just peel the ribbon off and there you have it. No sticky flowers or plastic pieces. Gorgeous.

Yummies all OVER the place!

A wedding from this last summer had some fun ideas... The tiered cake sat in front of the Head Table and then each guest table had a variety of cupcakes to choose from. Talk about yum! Carrot Cake with Walnuts, White Cake with an Andes Mint, Chocolate Cake with a Dark Chocolate Andes Mint and Orange Cardamom.

Speaking of Cupcakes...

This is such a great idea.... Love it! If you wanted the tiered shape of a traditional cake, but didn't actually want the cake.... Get a stand. Do cupcakes. VOILA! Do a little research on the flowers that are EDIBLE. Partially because on a design like this the flowers are touching the food product. Roses, Carnations, Pansies & Dandelions are all edible, to name a few. Just think of your favorite herbs, all edible. You get the idea... Just make sure that you do your homework!

Blue Polka Dots

I love this cake... Simple but OOHHHHHH so cute! The petite cakes are all the rage while the guests tables have individual cakes on them, individual cupcakes or even sheet cakes to supply the rest of the servings.

Watch for it!!

Remember ~ the Recipe of the Week will begin on Monday, December 15... For all of you who like to see what you're making, when possible, we'll post an image of the scrumptious yums that we're passing on to you! YEAH!

Doesn't this cute little shanty make the Sugarplums dance in your head, too?

Spring is in the air....

OK, not really....  but this delightful confection is elegant, yet simple while the guests' tables each had their own cake.
